Fundraising
Hi, This is where you can help me with my snowboarding. I have to compete all over the UK and now in Europe, I also hope to start competing in the USA as well. As I am sure you can imagine this is a very expensive thing to do. I have to find the money for both my travel and accomodation as well as my lift pass.My sponsors so far have done a wonderful job providing me with my gear and clothing and have even been able to fund some of my competition trips. But now that I am part of the GB Junior Snowboard Team the cost of my training has increased. To help with these costs I will be arranging various fund raising activities and events. I have decided however to donate half of all the funds I raise for my training etc. to a very worthwhile charitable cause. Snow-Camp is an innovative youth charity that uses a unique combination of skiing, snowboarding and life-skills programes to support inner-city young people. They have done some amazing work so far and have organised some fantastic fundraising events themselves. If you feel you would be able to support me in any way then please contact me through my contact details on my website. Sometimes my fundraising is directly linked to that of the Snow-Camp charity and a 'Just Giving' website will be available for you to donate. However if you would prefer to donate money straight to the charity themselves then please use the link below. www.snow-camp.co.uk/supportus.php
5/7/09 - Waddesdon Village Primary School, Summer fete. Becky's fundraising idea was to challenge all comers to a balancing competition using the vew-do balance board. The contestant who was able to beat her own score of 4 mins, would have won a £10 Snozone voucher. Despite numerous attempts by various challengers her best time remained unbeaten. 7/7/09 - Waddesdon 'Perfect Village Sunday'. This time Becky decided to mix things up. The Vew-do balance board challenge, was changed as nobody had been able to beat her best time, it was decided that the best time of the day would be awarded with a star prize of either a £10 voucher to 'Snozone' or a one hour guitar lesson. It soon became apparent that a strong competitive element was developing between the youth of the village with both girls and boys trying to out do each other. The eventual winner after returning to the stall five times to better his time after having his previous times beaten, chose the guitar lesson as his prize. Becky also chose to put on a demonstration of rail jibbing skills, this caused a huge amount of interest from the local youth. After some slight coaching many were trying their skills out on a spare snowboard. Becky has plenty more fundraising ideas, events and challenges to come. Please check back to this site on a regular basis for more information. |
