4 Gold Medals in One Weekend

| Becky Menday age 11 wins four gold medals in a row and has had a fantastic start to this year’s ‘British Snow Tour Artificial Championships’ held at Norwich. Saturday 11th September 2010 heralded the first leg of this seasons British Championships, kicking off with the Protest Slope Style Snowboard Championship. Here British Championship titles and cash prizes were up for grabs; the younger riders in the women's competition were stepping it up and setting the standard. 11 year old, Becky Menday won gold in the overall Womens Protest Slopestyle Championship Title, with a fast and stylish run that included Front 180 onto the box with a back 180 off and a solid 50-50 to boardslide over the bottom shark-fin rail. 1. After taking a nasty fall in her overall qaulifying race Becky went on to take the gold medal in the under 12’s category, with her friend and riding companion Cerys Allen age 10 taking 2nd place. Becky ended the races Finishing up in 5th place in the overall category.
After a break for lunch it was time for the Giro Big air Championship. A tough battle ensued with all the girls throwing down their best tricks of the large kicker at Norwich. Highlight of the event was watching 13 year old Katie Omerode throwing down her first ever front flip in a UK competition. After the three runs were over for all the girls the judges had a lot of work on their hands working out the results. Becky took Gold in her category , spinning a sweet indie grabbed frontside 180. She ended up again finishing 5th in the overall category. Becky was quoted as saying: “I love the start of the competition season, as I get to hang out and catch up with with all my friends doing what I enjoy”.
